Signed.com is a portfolio tracking platform built specifically for angel investors who are done managing investments through spreadsheets. It tracks financial details — price per share, safe conversions, number of shares — and uses AI to parse investor updates forwarded by email, extracting metrics and comparing founders' predictions against the actual results they post the following month.
Zach Holman has been angel investing for seven to eight years, with his first investment made around 2018. Over that period, he has invested in approximately a couple hundred companies — a volume that makes spreadsheet-based tracking not just inconvenient, but genuinely unmanageable. Holman built Signed.com directly out of his own experience hitting that wall, as he explains in The Angel Next Door.
The problem is one that host Marcia Dawood recognized immediately: her own angel portfolio spreadsheet had grown "a little gnarly" over the years. That shared frustration is precisely the pain point Signed.com targets — active angel investors whose deal count has outpaced what any manual system can handle cleanly.
Beyond financial data, Signed.com adds a layer most tools don't: automated analysis of the narrative updates that founders send their investors. An investor forwards an update email to Signed.com, and the platform's AI parses it — identifying the metrics the founder reports and any predictions they make for the month ahead.
Then, when the next update arrives, Signed.com can compare what the founder predicted against what they actually reported. That kind of systematic accountability tracking — across a portfolio of dozens or hundreds of companies — is something no spreadsheet realistically supports. It's a feature discussed directly in this episode of The Angel Next Door.
The platform also handles tax-related pain points. Signed.com launched its tax features ahead of the tax season in early 2026, helping investors wrangle the K-1s and other documents that accumulate across a large portfolio — a detail Holman flagged as a real driver of early adoption on The Angel Next Door.
"I've invested in a couple hundred companies. I think it's really hard to do that just in a spreadsheet form and trying to figure things out and where to go from this."
Zach Holman — Founder, Signed.com
Holman joined GitHub in 2010 and spent five years there before the company was acquired by Microsoft in 2017. After GitHub, he moved into advising — including GitLab — which led him naturally into angel investing. After seven to eight years as an investor and approximately a couple hundred deals, he built Signed.com to solve the exact tracking problem he faced himself. The platform launched in February–March 2026.
Signed.com positions itself as a dedicated alternative to the general-purpose tools — like Carta or AngelList — that were not built with the individual angel investor's workflow in mind. Holman's background as an early engineer at a company that scaled to a Microsoft acquisition gives him credible standing on the infrastructure side, which comes through clearly when he discusses the product on The Angel Next Door.
The Fourth Effect is a platform that connects founders with potential board members and investors, and helps founders learn how to build a board effectively from the ground up.
Chloe Capital is a venture fund that invests in companies where founders come from diverse backgrounds, focusing on tech companies across multiple sectors.
Christa Downey's coaching focuses on helping founders navigate the identity shift from founder to CEO, particularly around leadership and organizational development as their company scales.
Zach Holman goes further in the episode — covering sports investing, K-1 headaches, and what a portfolio of hundreds of companies really looks like.
